I've been visiting Leighton Moss RSPB for some time now, with it being almost 1.5 hours it is a fair old drive. A staff member there told me about BMW RSPB which is 30 minutes away, much more economical to travel here, but no bitterns are there as of yet.
I took my son with me who was keen to know and learn about what I get up to when I go Bird Watching, it was rather exciting to share my knowledge so far with him.
As soon as we got there we were greated by lovely, genuine staff, who couldn't do enough to help us. We got Leo some binoculars, so get a close up view of the birds.
We set off walking, no particular goals in mind, just a case of funding our feet at this reserve, asking Leo about bird songs that we heard along the way and sharing what I know so far, he was loving it, get in!
It probably took us a couple of hours to reach the furthest hide and back to the visitor centre, so not to bad foe young ones, and other routes available that we will look at next time.
I got the shot of my latest favourite bird at the moment, I was as excited as a kid on Christmas morning! It was a Cetti's Warbler!

We also took a keen interest in the Pintail ducks, absolutely marvellous and magnificent ducks, Leo took a liking to their pointy pin tail!

If you're just starting out, or if your more experienced them I recommend BMW RSPB a visit, for young and old, you'll be sure to have to lots of wildlife to look out for.
I'm hoping to visit again tomorrow with the rest of the family, I doubt much photography will take place haha.
I hope you are enjoying you're weekend, have you spotted anything unusual for the tike of year? I'm hoping to see a cuckoo this year!
